the Ramones toured …
the Ramones toured england back in 75 and thats where the clash and some of the sex pistols (I shouldve been more specific my bad) first heard the ramones and became friends with them that was before the members formed their bands then when the ramones went back to the us the clash put out their 76 album. listen to it it sounds exactly like the ramones.
February 13th, 2009 at 3:52 am
i dont really care …
i dont really care who started what, but i have heard joe strummer say in interviews that the ramones were a big infuence in the U.K. there was also iggy and the stooges and mc5

Yeah,that’s basically what I meant
February 13th, 2009 at 3:52 am
Well, technically, …
Well, technically, most of the members of The Clash and The Sex Pistols learned to play along with The Ramones, but that’s not saying they stole their sound. I actually can’t find very many similarities between the original US punk and the first punk that came out of the UK
February 13th, 2009 at 3:52 am
ok I agree with you …
ok I agree with you on the first part, but the whole ‘Sex Pistols and The Clash stole The Ramones sound’ thing,I disagree.Sex Pistols and The Clash were from the U.K. so I don’t think they really payed attention or really cared about who The Ramones were, they’re a good band dont get me wrong but your whole take on ’stealing the sounds’ doesn’t really make sense given the difference between all three of those bands.

This is a great film. I wish there was some more info on Husker Du. Who were considered (by spin magazine) on of the most influential bands. Certainly up there with Bad Brains.
