I’m not suggesting …
I’m not suggesting it as a reason you don’t like them and am not trying to offend you, I just didn’t get why even insert such a comment if the band just doesn’t belong here. For some reason the American X is the only band that receives a negative comment.

It irritates me …
It irritates me every time someone says that X generally has a higher quality of songwriting. Because I’ve yet to hear anything by them that didn’t sound naive. Some of my favorite bands from that era are Devo, XTC, Wire, and Joy Division, so my dislike for X is not that they aren’t “punk enough.” And it is offensive to suggest that is the reason I don’t like them.

This one of 3 or 5 …
This one of 3 or 5 of my favourite videos on youtube ever, but it’s still irritates me every time to hear the american X called ‘lackluster’. They’re just too different from this bunch and their records were made from a different perspective. The rockabilly nature of their sound, a generally higher quality of songwriting, and possibly the best male/female vocal duo ever. Yes, all that put them beyond the general punk sound but not ‘lackluster’.

It is all …
It is all subjective. So why are you insulting me for my subjective stance?
March 8th, 2009 at 8:04 am
conflict is heavier …
conflict is heavier and more like anti sect, disorder, or chaos uk. flux uses frequencies and army style like crass does, which is pretty artsy to me. its all subjective.

“a lot of bands …
“a lot of bands sound like crass. flux of pink indians are almost exactly like them.”
Um… no. Flux sound more like Conflict. There are similarities, sure, but Flux don’t have any of the artiness of Crass.

this was just …
this was just something to waste time on. not to be taken seriously i’m sure. a lot of bands sound like crass. flux of pink indians are almost exactly like them. which means so are the epileptics. not that this is a competition or anything but i think most could educate much better.

Okay, definitely …
Okay, definitely not concerts, but I can deeply appreciate some of the Crass records as ‘arty’. Listen to the razor-sharp dry sound by John Loder throughout (reportedly a main influence on Steve Albini), and listen closely to some of the delicate bass lines by Pete Wright (e.g. “Punk is Dead”, “Sucks”, “White Punks on Hope”).

“B ward” from Rudimentary Peni still sounds as good now as it did then. They’re still going - 30 years! They have a new CD out and it’s killer.

Punk rock education …
Punk rock education ??? ok closest this moron got was with Swell maps, in fact that was the only thing he got right ! …. Warsaw were ‘the meanest heaviest band overlooked by punks’ ??? probably because they only performed live like 2 times and nothing was released ! Crass ? artpunks ??? well that’s a new one on me, and I saw Crass a few times or so and don’t remember that terminology being used, anyway Crass were hippies so meant nothing to real punk …. yanks no nothing, especially this one!

The Minute Men were …
The Minute Men were just SO American, that only a North American band could sound anything like them. I think THE WIERDOS and THE YOUNG PIONEERS (both US bands) had a similar type of Yankie Indie vibe as The Minutemen, but that’s all I can think of.

ANYTHING on a …
ANYTHING on a record lable called: Amphetamine Reptile Records, has to be worth buying. Any others albums from X? Did I really write “I thought the only half good Australian Punk Band were The Saints..” Geez, how could I forget BOYS NEXT DOOR! (better than The Saints even). Check out “Sich Offen” by Aussie band “Not From There”. Also “Seems Twice” were kind of interesting, although none of their songs lasted more than 30 seconds.

“There is only …
“There is only death. No god, no love, no joy.
Only death, and the fear of it.” Yeah, it’s a bit of a stretch to call that negative, I guess.
And Crass was certainly Art Punk. See: 10 Notes on a Summer’s Day.

And the real comedy …
And the real comedy is that I’m only 5′6″ (okay, 5′5.5″). It’s X (which makes them hard to distinguish in Google searches). The song I played her is from the album Aspirations, which was re-released in the 90s on CD by Amphetamine Reptile Records.
