Los Crudos were an American hardcore punk band from Chicago, Illinois. They sang with a ferocious energy about political issues among the Latino community and the struggles we go through day by day. Their style of music paved the way in punk subculture that was predominantly ruled by the white community and set the standard for up and coming Spanish speaking punk bands that had a voice and message to be heard. With songs like “Tiempos De La Miseria” and “That’s Right, We’re A Spic Band”, Los Crudos challenged those who mocked them and referred them as nothing more than “that pic band”. With banners and self-made t-shirts reading “Illegal Y Que?!” (”Illegal, so what?!”), Los Crudos became a dominant political hardcore force that has been heard throughout every urban Latino community and gave minorities the strength and will to scream when their was no other way that they would be heard. This wasn’t your ordinary hardcore band. , even though they were highly popular in the Straight Edge scene, this was one band that was always proud to be crudo. Crudo soy!!
Footage was taken from the film, “Beyond The Screams: A U.S. Latino Hardcore Punk Documentary”. It includes an homage to hardcore Latino bands that were proud of there roots and never stopped screaming until they were heard. Bands include: Huasipungo (NY), Arma Contra Arma (Chicago), No Loss (Texas), Kontra Ataque (LA), Tras De Nada (Chicago), Subsistencia (LA), Logical Nonsense (New Mexico), Sbitch (Texas), Lifes Halt (LA and personal favorite!), and Youth Against (Chicago).
“Nosotros somos sin caras, no temes papeles ni derechos,
no pueden oir nuestras voces, pero nunca dejamos de gritar!”

History of Punk - Part 1 朋克搖滾的歷史 中文字幕
Punk rock (often referred to simply as punk) is a rock music genre that developed between 1974 and 1976 in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Rooted in garage rock and other forms of what is now known as protopunk music, punk rock bands eschewed the perceived excesses of mainstream 1970s rock. They created fast, hard-edged music, typically with short songs, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti-establishment lyrics. Punk embraces a DIY (do it yourself) ethic, with many bands self-producing their recordings and distributing them through informal channels.
By late 1976, bands such as the Ramones, in New York City, and the Sex Pistols and The Clash, in London, were recognized as the vanguard of a new musical movement. The following year saw punk rock spreading around the world. Punk quickly, though briefly, became a major cultural phenomenon in the United Kingdom. For the most part, punk took root in local scenes that tended to reject ociation with the mainstream. An ociated punk subculture emerged, expressing youthful rebellion and characterized by distinctive clothing styles and a variety of anti-authoritarian ideologies.
By the beginning of the 1980s, even faster, more aggressive styles such as hardcore and Oi! had become the predominant mode of punk rock. Musicians identifying with or inspired by punk also pursued a broad range of other variations, giving rise to post-punk and the alternative rock movement. By the turn of the century, new pop punk bands such as Green Day were bringing the genre widespread popularity decades after its inception.
After a brief period unofficially managing the New York Dolls, Englishman Malcolm McLaren returned to London in May 1975, inspired by the new scene he had witnessed at CBGB. He opened Sex, a clothing store specializing in outrageous “anti-fashion”.[102] Among those who frequented the shop were members of a band called The Swankers. In August, the group was seeking a new lead singer. Another Sex habitué, Johnny Rotten, auditioned for and won the job; McLaren became the band’s manager. Adopting a new name, the group played its first gig as the Sex Pistols on November 5, 1975, at St. Martin’s School of Art[103] and soon attracted a small but ardent following.[104] In February 1976, the band received its first significant press coverage; guitarist Steve Jones declared that the Pistols were not so much into music as they were “chaos”.[105] The band often provoked its crowds into near-riots. Rotten announced to one audience, “Bet you don’t hate us as much as we hate you!”[106] McLaren envisioned the Pistols as central players in a new youth movement, “hard and tough”.[107] As described by critic Jon Savage, the band members “embodied an attitude into which McLaren fed a new set of references: late-sixties radical politics, sexual fetish material, pop history, … youth sociology”.[108]
Bernard Rhodes, a sometime ociate of McLaren’s and friend of the Pistols’, was similarly trying to make stars of the band London SS. Early in 1976, the group broke up, spinning off two new bands: The ed and The Clash, which was joined by Joe Strummer, The 101′ers former lead singer.[109] On June 4, 1976, the Sex Pistols played Manchester’s Lesser Free Trade Hall in what came to be regarded as one of the most influential rock shows ever. Among the approximately forty audience members were the three locals who had organized the gig—they soon began performing as the Buzzcocks. Others in the small crowd went on to form Joy Division, The Fall, and—in the 1980s—The Smiths.

CBGB -SUNDAY OCTOBER 16 HARDCORE MATINEE 1988 PART 2
HOGAN’S HEROES-PRONG-LUDICHRIST
CBGB, which opened on 315 Bowery in the Village in 1973, was instrumental in establishing New York’s punk scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s, as well as the American hardcore scene of the mid- and late ’80s.
Though CBGB was utilized as a hot spot for touring bands to hit when they came through New York, the scene that kept the bar alive during the 1980s was the underground hardcore scene. Sunday at CBGB was matinee day and “thrash day”. Every Sunday a handful of hardcore bands took the stage in the afternoon to dinnertime hours, usually for cheap. The CBGB’s matinee became an institution. This went on until early 1990s.
