Part 10 of the DVD Documentary. Maybe the videos over, but the music? , no.

Punk’s Not Dead is a 2007 documentary film directed by Susan Dynner, an American hardcore punk fan. The film claims to infiltrate American clubs, malls, recording studios, etc where it sets out to claim hardcore punk and pop punk music is “thriving” from an American perspective. Its content features performances largely from, 1980s hardcore bands and MTV skate punk and pop punk/rock acts. It also includes various interviews and behind-the-scenes footage with the bands, labels and fans.

“The Untouchables” are a Soul-Mod-Ska revival band from the greater Los Angeles area. They formed in 1981 after being inspired by the Ska-Punk band “The Boxboys”. The band toured extensively throughout the 80’s with acts such as Bow Wow Wow, Fishbone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, X and many others. The band has gone thru many lineup changes, as of 2006, only vocalist Jerry Miller remains from the original lineup. Here we have a Live performance of “What’s Gone Wrong” from Daytona Beach Florida in 1986. Great song, great band! Enjoy, Placebo.

The Dead Milkmen is a satirical punk band formed in 1983 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The band initially consisted of Joe Genaro (”Joe Jack Talcum”; guitar, vocals), Dave Schulthise (”Dave Blood”; bass), Dean Sabatino (”Dean Clean”; drums), and Rodney Linderman (”Rodney Anonymous”; vocals, synth).

In 1988 came Beelzebubba, which featured what would become the Dead Milkmen’s biggest commercial hit and best-known song, “Punk Rock Girl.” The song’s video won rotation on MTV, and was later featured on MTV’s Beavis and Butt-head show. This album was somewhat more sophisticated, technically and musically, than previous work and featured two music videos, “Punk Rock Girl” and “Smokin’ Banana Peels”. Following in this vein is 1990’s Metaphysical Graffiti, which was even more technical than the last album, but didn’t receive the same attention as Beezlebubba did. The album featured the song “Methodist Coloring Book”; the song and its music video received little rotation.

Up to this point, the band had been recording for Enigma Records and its subsidiary Restless Records. They signed with Hollywood Records, owned by Disney. Their next two albums, Soul Rotation (1992) and Not Richard, But Dick (1993), saw the further polishing of their production. However, many fans felt the band had lost its humor and vitality in an attempt to be more mainstream.

The God Awfuls are a punk rock/street punk band from Los Angeles and are currently signed to Kung-Fu Records.

The God Awfuls emerged out of a rather desolate and uncultured section of Los Angeles, a potential influence in their style choice.

Floating around between high school bands, singer/guitarist Kevin De Franco and bassist Kyle Lumsden eventually crossed paths and formed the base of The God Awfuls. A few random band members passed through before the groundwork solidified with guitarist Chris La Fave and drummer John Skelly. Luckily, the popularity of punk in their area and their keen attitude gave them a boost. The God Awfuls’ songs are typical punk rock, but they have considerably catchy choruses.[1] The God Awfuls became highly acclaimed to “true” punks, due to attitudes towards “fake punk” all over the place.

Their debut album, Next Stop Armageddon and one such song, Watch It Fall, is featured on the 2005 skateboarding video game Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland. It was produced by The Greedy Bros. (a.k.a. Blag Dahlia of The Dwarves and engineering partner-in-crime Brad Cook). The God Awfuls took a hiatus until about 2007/2008 when they were featured in the documentary “Punks Not Dead”. In July of 2008, The God Awfuls released 3 new songs on a demo.

On October 28, 2008, The God Awfuls announced on their MySpace page they would be changing their name to Brand New War.
